PIRG Fuel Buyers is a consumer oil co-op that allows the citizens of Philadelphia and the surrounding area to join together and demand fair prices for heating oil. By using the collective buying power of our 1,100 members, we negotiate prices based on the daily wholesale price of oil, saving our members up to $200 each winter.
PIRG Fuel Buyers is a project of the Pennsylvania Public Interest Research Group, a statewide, non-profit consumer advocacy organization. PennPIRG works to deliver persistent, result-oriented public interest activism that encourages a fair, sustainable economy and fosters responsive, democratic government.
With this mission in mind, PIRG Fuel Buyers provides consumers an alternative to “business as usual” and increases the power of individuals in the marketplace. As the Delaware Valley’s largest fuel buying group, we also act as advocates and educators on public energy assistance programs and energy efficiency issues.
